Top 5 Things to Avoid To Sell Your Items Faster on Carousell
Ever wondered why some listings take longer to sell?
Your listings might be giving buyers more barriers than reasons to buy.
We’ve identified the top 5 problems buyers on Carousell face while shopping, and how you can solve them!
1. Not enough details
How would you feel if you saw an item in a store without its brand, product description or its price?
That’s how buyers on Carousell feel when they see a poorly constructed listing title and description! Buyers want to have confidence in their purchase decisions. Your listing title and description are the first thing they read and helps them seek the confidence they are looking for!
Here’s a quick checklist to instantly level up the quality and attractiveness of your listing:
Must have | Good to have | |
Title | Brand of your item (if there is one) | Condition of your item |
Name of your item | Size of your item
Colour/Type of your item | Deal method
Description | Condition of your item, rated on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being mint, 1 being poor)
Material or other specifications
Measurements and size |
Here’s an example of a great title that tells us condition, brand, item and type all in one go:
The description then covers the other good-to-have details - the condition of the item (“Brand new in box”), the material (under “Details”) and the size (under “Size”).
2. Unclear or unattractive listing pictures
Make a good first impression with your pictures! Keep CALM while taking your pictures.
C - Make sure your item is centred in the picture.
A - Ensure that your item is alone in the picture, so that there are no other distractions.
L - Good lighting shows off details and makes the picture look more professional.
M - Don’t skimp – take multiple pictures to give potential buyers a better idea of the item!
The abovementioned listing covers all of these tips! The image has only the item, it is fully centered in the image, and good lighting was used. Lastly, there were 4 images which showed the different features/angles of the item, fully assuring the buyer of its quality and authenticity.
3. Inaccurate pricing
Under-pricing cuts our profits, but over-pricing scares buyers away. How do we ensure that the price is just right for our buyers?
With our new Price Suggestion feature, you can now bid goodbye to inaccurate pricing! Once you’ve added a picture to your listing, we’ll be able to find similar listings on our marketplace and suggest a price to sell your item at based on the prices of those other similar listings. This also gives you a quick snapshot of your competitors’ offerings, and you can decide what would work best for your earnings too!
4. Being unable to find what they’re looking for
Carousell is a huge marketplace with many listings and categories. Sometimes it isn’t easy for buyers to find what they’re looking for. That’s where our visibility features like Bumps and Spotlights come in handy!
